Media convergence prompts ABC reshuffle

Leading media consumption analysts, ABC Electronic, are handing over the responsibility of their online metrics to their traditional print-based teams amid a changing landscape in the media industry.

The company monitors readership patterns for online media clients, such as newspaper websites, and also the print media, publishing monthly industry statistics.

The need to measure the performance of online and offline products side by side has been triggered by the integrated growth in the industry.

The move means that ABCE’s print-based account teams will take over responsibility for all multi-platform content produced by its newspaper and magazine clients.

The reshuffle now gives ABCE director of newspapers, Martyn Gates, responsibility for newspaper consumption across all platforms. Likewise director of magazines, Jan Pitt, is set to take control of magazines in all formats.

ABCE chief executive, Chris Boyd, said that as media platforms converged and diversified, the need for accountability, regardless of channel, had never been greater. This restructure would make certain that ABC was able to embrace its central role within the industry for the future

ABCE is also to centralise its service in a bid to give its clients the same point of contact for all formats.
