1 November 2007 Record figures for national dailiesOnline audience figures have hit an all-time high for four of the UK's leading daily national newspaper websites, according to new data.
Leading media consumption analysts, ABC Electronic, have published their latest findings, which reveal that The Guardian, Times, Telegraph and The Sun are all enjoying record monthly online readerships.
The Times saw the biggest upsurge, with the number of unique users racing over the 12.5 million mark, outstripping its previous record monthly peak, back in January this year, by a staggering 1.7 million.
The news means that timesonline.co.uk can once again boast its ranking as the UK’s second most popular newspaper website, wrestling the position from its nearest contenders, The Sun and The Mail. But thesun.co.uk is nevertheless flourishing, boosting its visitor numbers further since breaking through the 10 million barrier for the first time in the previous month. The UK's most popular newspaper site remains The Guardian, which has recorded the highest ever monthly total for unique users at more than 16.5 million.
Readership for telegraph.co.uk also hit a record high with in excess of 10.5 million unique visitors.
The Daily Mail saw a monthly increase to more than 11.6 million unique readers. Although not its best ever total, the daily still ranks as the third most popular online national newspaper. |
