Sun shines in online readership figures

The Sun is celebrating record online readership, as its number of unique users broke through the ten-million barrier for the first time.

Media online-traffic specialist, ABC Electronic (ABCE), has just released findings which reveal a sharp jump in visitors to Sun Online to nearly 10.6 million. This beats its previous best showing back in January this year by more than a million.

And it’s been a double triumph for the daily tabloid, as it is also getting a record level of page views. At 239,000, the number is more than that for any other national newspaper featured in the findings.

For the newspapers that report their monthly audience figures, the latest ABCE statistics reflect a general upward trend since August 2006 despite a temporary blip during the height of the summer.

The Telegraph has seen unique visitors to its website swell by more than 64% since the same period last year. And although both The Guardian and The Times websites have seen a monthly fall in unique users this time, they have enjoyed overall year-on-year growth of 26% and 15% respectively.
